what do lip fillers involve?

The first step is a thorough, careful, consultation where you’re able to freely discuss your treatment goals and consent to the procedure. Importantly photographs will then be taken to track your results.

The procedure itself involves multiple small injections of dermal filler into specific areas of your lips or lines. The injection technique is variable and is very dependent on individual anatomy and on the desired treatment outcome.

The treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.

Are lip fillers safe?

Lip fillers are very safe when administered by an experienced practitioner. There are of course some minimal risks such as bruising and swelling. Some rare complications include allergic reactions, delayed onset reactions, damage and blockage of blood vessels and blindness (very rare). 

I believe that it’s important that all possible risks be disclosed, no matter how rare they may be and they’ll be discussed at your appointment.

I take your comfort seriously.

The lips are very sensitive and lip injections can cause some discomfort. Rest assured a prescription strength topical anaesthetic cream is applied prior to treatment and all the quality lip fillers used at Attentive Aesthetics also contain anaesthetic.

How long do lip fillers last?

Lip filler results are noticeable immediately, however the final result will evolve over approximately 3 weeks as it takes time for the swelling to resolve and for the dermal filler to integrate.

Lip fillers are temporary and the longevity of results will vary due to factors such as metabolism, smoking and lifestyle. In most cases lip filler may last 6-12 months based on a 1ml dermal filler treatment.

What to expect after lip fillers

Lip enhancement is minimally invasive and downtime is minimal however do consider the following and pre plan treatment prior to any important social engagements.

Expect possible bruising that can persist for 7-10 days.

Swelling after lip injections is inevitable and peaks for the first 24-48 hours then will resolve over 7-10 days.

Your satisfaction is a priority therefore a follow up appointment will be arranged 3 weeks following your lip injections.

You’ll be given verbal and written aftercare instructions.
